The Story

Founded in 2016 by Pierre-Alexandre Bourdel, Pierre Atelier is an upholstery studio based in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Pierre Atelier provides luxury upholstery services to international, high-end residential interior decorators and architects. We take pride in constantly finding ways to exceed the craft and meet the growing demands of our clients.

Pierre Atelier also collaborates with celebrated furniture designers, master embroiderers, and furniture artists. The atelier works on special commissions for galleries in London, Amsterdam, and Paris, whose work has been featured in the Salon Art + Design in New York.

Our eco-friendly approach uses traditional materials like horsehair, springs, cotton, and linen to meet modern design needs while prioritizing durability along with environmental and customer well-being.

About Pierre:
Pierre’s interest in upholstery piqued when he would walk past an upholstery shop in Le Mans on his way to school. When he turned 17, he began his apprenticeship with the Compagnons du Devoir in France. Across workshops in France and Ireland, he began honing his craft and mastering different skill sets. He arrived in New York in 2010 where he worked for major upholstery workshops before setting up Pierre Atelier.
